Livin La Vida Low-Carb

Jimmy MooreSpartanburg, South Carolina

My life was radically changed forever on January 1, 2004. That's the day that marks the first day in a journey I now refer to as livin' la vida low-carb.

As a 410-pound morbidly obese man with breathing problems, blood pressure skyrocketing, cholesterol through the roof and other obesity-related health conditions that were leading me to a one-way ticket to an early grave, I decided enough was enough.

I got on the Atkins diet after reading "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution" book and even started exercising for the first time in my life. Although it was a difficult struggle at times throughout the process of losing weight, I was able to lose nearly 200 pounds that year and I've kept it off ever since with low-carb living.

My life has been radically transformed and it's all because of the healthy low-carb way of eating. I created a blog (http://livinlavidalocarb.blogspot.com) in April 2005 called "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" to help encourage and educate others about this miraculous health and weight loss program and I even wrote a book called "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb:  My Journey From Flabby Fat To Sensationally Skinny In One Year" to share my story of hope with others.

It is my mission in life to help anyone who is overweight or obese to begin dealing with their weight problem and to rise triumphantly over it just like I did.  Please feel free to e-mail me anytime at livinlowcarbman@charter.net if you need a word of encouragement, some useful advice from someone who has been there, or just a listening ear.  I'm here to help you.

Ever since I blogged about my recent struggle to lose 30 pounds that have refused to budge since I put them on in the first couple of months of my resistance training which began in December 2007, the comments, e-mails, and overall good wishes that so many of you have shared with me have come pouring in and I sincerely appreciate everyone's advice and positive reinforcement for me through this frustrating time. I realize I am not alone in this and that is what drives me to want to get to the bottom of the issue to help others who have a similar predicament.

My Wife's Triglycerides Plummet 55% In Just Six Weeks On A Truly Low-Carb Diet Print E-mail

My wife Christine should be smiling with this great news

It's one thing to share with you the latest research and scientific studies that highlight the healthy benefits of carbohydrate restriction. But today I am overjoyed and jubilant to report to you the amazingly fast health improvements that are happening for the love of my life, Christine. This is absolutely incredible!

You'll recall less than two months ago when I reported to you that despite eating a lower-carb diet, which helped Christine drop 35 pounds last year, her triglycerides actually rose to 293 in March 2008 and opened her eyes to the damaging effect that carbohydrates were having on her health despite the fact her weight had gone down. It was a great reminder that livin' la vida low-carb is not just some quick fix weight loss regimen as it has often been portrayed by the media and those ever-so-present health "experts" out there who think they know how we're supposed to eat. Instead, it is a permanent lifestyle change that will improve virtually every single aspect of your health forever.

If you like potato pancakes, then try this cauliflower one instead

I'm a real sucker for Southern comfort food. Call it my roots living in Tennessee, Virginia, and South Carolina for most of my life, but I love delicious foods made in the South. Unfortunately, most of these foods are decidedly high in carbohydrates.

That's why I have been looking for and working on coming up with low-carb versions of fried chicken, lemon icebox pie, and so many more. Lately I've been experimenting with my own version of mashed cauliflower and putting a Southern spin on it by frying it up in a pan like you would potato  pancakes.

New American Gladiator Jet Got Fit By 'Cuttin' Out Sugars And Carbs' Print E-mail

Monica Carlson is now "Jet" on the hit NBC-TV show "American Gladiators"

When NBC decided to bring back one of my all-time favorite television shows in January, I was so stoked! Watching it in the late 80s/early 90s, American Gladiators was an instant American cult classic. Here you had average, everyday people as contestants displaying brute strength, agility like a cat, and perfect timing attempting to give the pumped up Gladiators a thing or two to think about. Some did, some didn't. Regardless, it was fun to watch when I was 18 and it's still a blast today at 36.
