Q: I hear a lot about couscous - what is it and how do I make it?
A:
Couscous is a starch made from hard wheat semolina mixed with water to
form a paste which is then shaped and dried, at which point it
resembles tiny beads of pasta. Homemade couscous is rare these days;
even in rural Africa where couscous is a staple, most people buy
ready-to-use couscous from a store or market.
Q: I have made a commitment to lose weight, and so far I am doing
well. The hardest part of the day is the evening, when I often find
myself visiting the refrigerator. Any tips?
Q: I have been trying to lose weight by sticking to a reduced
calorie, well-balanced meal plan. Once in a while I eat too much - will
this cause me to gain back what I have lost?
A: One
day won't make or break you. It's consistent overeating that you need
to worry about. You will not see the scale go up after one day of going
overboard. A pound is equal to 3500 calories.
