Experts say that walking a mere half-hour a day will lead you to better health and quicker weight loss.

If you can find just 30 minutes a day to walk, you'll be well on your way to a healthier, leaner body. According to the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), if you walk for 30 minutes each day at your target heart rate, you'll be able to shed between 16 and 18 pounds each year-great results from a low-impact activity that requires next to no special gear and can be done anywhere.

For most people the challenge lies not in actively putting one foot in front of the other, but in finding the time to actually do it. Reassessing your daily schedule and finding pockets of unused time is the first step. If you can work more productively during the workday or get the kids to school a half-hour earlier than usual, you'll probably be able to squeeze in 30 minutes of outdoor or treadmill walking. Or you might find the time for a quick walking workout during your lunch hour or just before dinner. However you squeeze it in, consider it your "half-hour to health," and work to make it a part of your daily life.
