If you're getting muscle cramps in the third set, stretching and hydrating are your best prevention bets.

If you find you're cramping up on the court, you're probably not hydrating yourself enough, and you aren't stretching properly. "The biggest issue is people need to hydrate properly, but once someone is in the cramping stage they must stretch out," says tennis expert Vic Braden. "We've found that people need to stretch before and after an event, which will help prevent cramping during a match and after. Cramps occur in movements that are not familiar to the body, so an individual needs to stretch that part of the body to prepare for any scenario." Braden also warns that if you are cramping, you cannot catch up during the match by flooding your system with water. If you haven't prepared yourself in the first place, you'll be in for a tough day.
