Q: I know that drinking water is important for weight loss and
health. However, I have trouble fitting in all of my water each day -
any tips? A: You are right about water being crucial to a healthy body. Every body cell, tissue and organ and almost every life-sustaining body process needs water to function. Water regulates your body temperature, transports nutrients and oxygen to your body cells and carries waste products away. It moistens tissues in your mouth, eyes and nose and it softens stools to prevent constipation. It is also the main component of every body fluid such as blood, gastric juice, saliva, amniotic fluid and urine. Water also helps cushion your joints and protects your body organs and tissues.Ideally, adults should aim for at least 64 oz of water per day. There are some medical conditions that require a person to consume more or less water, so check with your doctor if you have questions about your specific requirements. If you're having a difficult time meeting your water requirements, try these tips: Drink one 8oz glass before and after each meal - this will help you feel full as well. Drink water after brushing your teeth. Toothpaste dries out your mouth so a glass of water will leave a fresh feeling in your mouth. Keep a water bottle on your desk at arm's reach. Carry a bottle around with you in your car, purse or backpack. Always drink water before, during and after exercising. While water is really the best for hydration purposes, other calorie free, decaffeinated beverages also count. Herbal tea is a pretty close substitute for water and it's great in the wintertime because it's warm! Herbal ice tea is delicious in the summer. Seltzer water is another great choice - try adding a slice of lemon, lime or orange for a change. Trackback(0)
