Celebrities don’t always follow the smartest weight-loss tactics. That’s not exactly big news, considering a lot of them think a tall latte = lunch. But it’s always worth debunking the more dubious advice nonetheless. First up, reality also-ran Audrina Patridge says she’s naturally skinny, so she just avoids soda and does a lot of sit-ups. She’s half right. According to one study, Americans get about 144 calories a day from soda—that’s a waste. But doing a ton of sit-ups won’t make you lose weight. That’s called spot-toning, and ineffective. Famous for doing nothing, if you will. The other is Eva Longoria, who says she lost her extra “strike weight” (hey, remember the strike?) by avoiding preserved and frozen foods. While it’s true that preserved foods tend to encompass some diet nasties like cookies, chips, cheese, and high-sodium canned goods, I can’t give the same props to Eva’s freezer burn. Frozen veggies can actually pack a higher nutritional punch than fresh produce, because the foods are packaged immediately after harvest. Of course, it’s kinda comforting to know that, even with zillion-dollar trainers and personal chefs, celebs manage to get mixed up in diet myths now and then. Because who doesn’t? Trackback(0)
