Proper fit is more important than seat angle for cyclists with back pain. A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine suggests that relief for cyclists with lower back pain may be just a tilt away. Researchers found when they adjusted the angle of the bicycle seat, greater than 70 percent of study participants felt some relief. Before you reach for that Allen wrench, however, know this: Tilting the angle of your saddle should be one of your last resorts as it can cause additional and needless strain on your arms, shoulders and hands. A better option for those who suffer from back pain while pedaling away is to make sure that their bikes are properly fitted to their bodies. If you're at all in doubt, ride down for a visit at your local bike specialty shop. Experts there should be able to help you adjust your seat height, stem height and stem extension so you don't have to worry about adjusting your back in the future. Trackback(0)
