What’s Your Happy Weight? Print E-mail

According to the latest issue of Self, 87 percent of women wish they weighed less. So the mag offers a calculator to help you find your “happy weight,” the magic number where you’re in fab shape but not obsessing over every bite you take. So I thought it would be fun to find the “happy weight” for a few celebs.

FYI, the variables include height, age, heredity, exercise habits, and your tendency to binge on the occasional sweet.

According to their calculator, Posh Spice’s happy weight is 126. Can you picture that? I don’t think she’s been there since the very early Spice Girl days.

Nicole Richie’s is 116—I have a feeling she’s not too far off base right now. Of course, if she decides to go bananas with her post-baby weight loss, all bets are off.

Queen Latifah’s is 161, while equally tall Paris Hilton’s is 141. I’m guessing there’s more than a twenty-pound spread between them, so…which one isn’t happy? Personally, I think they both look healthy for their frames.

If you’re curious, you can find your happy weight here. Considering I’m kind of a gym rat, I was a little surprised to see that my happy weight is about 10 pounds below my current weight. Yikes! Does it count if you’re way off the mark—but still happy? And how much stock should be put into one-size-fits-all calculators?

Wow - I'm not really sure how an objective test can measure a subjective feeling, but I thought it was pretty cool, esp since I was only a few pounds off.

Okay, well I am currently trying to lose about 5 pounds and I just looked at my 'happy weight' and it's 5 pounds more than I am now! Why doesn't that make me feel better?

Is it just me, or are these happy weights too high? Mine is several pounds more than I weigh now, and I'm always trying to drop a few.

I actually saw that calculator, and being the curious person that I am, I HAD to take it. Luckily, I'm only like a pound off so it didn't really give me an emotional breakdown. But I can only imagine how many women who are happy now took the quiz, saw that they were at their "happy weight," and thought "am I truly happy or am I just fooling myself?"
