I’m overloaded on new-mommy news, and I see no end in sight. But I refuse to blog about Trista Sutter’s post-baby body (she! is! not! famous!) or Salma Hayek’s “weight-loss tactic” of freezing breast milk (not to question the average IQ over at Star, but that’s so the baby can eat later). So instead I’m posting an interesting quote from Kelly Osbourne, who’s pretty much famous for nothing except her weight fluctuations. But then again, that goes for half of
Kelly’s lost a lot of weight recently, and she blames her busy schedule, saying she “forgets” to eat. That’s one of the more popular go-to excuses, of course—guess Kelly figured no one would believe she does Pilates. But then she added something a little more thought-provoking: “I don’t like the way that suddenly now everyone likes me because I’ve lost two stone. I was always the fat spoiled brat because I was fat, not because I was a spoiled brat.” What do you think—do you think tabloids tend to portray overweight women more negatively? Trackback(0)

Yes, the media absolutely portrays overweight women more negatively. Or even, as in the case of Jennifer Love Hewitt, tries to portray them negatively by running unflattering photos to make them look overweight. Perfect example is Nichole Ritchie. As soon as she lost weight, she was the darling of Hollywood. Do you think she's any different than she was before, just because she has a ladylike bob and a weighs 97 lbs? It's like all sins are excused if your skinny.

Absolutely! It seems that in the tabloids everything is fair game and weight is one of the favorite hot spots. Look at the reaction they got from Jennifer Love Hewitt when a shot of her in a bathing suit revealed a touch of cellulite. They got an immediate tongue-lashing from her, declaring that she's NOT FAT.
