A Boozy Calorie Bargain? Print E-mail

Kid Rock reveals the secret to his, um, good health—swapping beer for liquor. Is he on the right track?

Kid says, “My new health kick is vodka soda with lemon. There is no f***ing calories in that s***. I love drinking beer, so I figure if I eat healthy and drink vodka, when I go to sporting events or have a BBQ I can drink my beer.”

Actually—to put it in Kid's terms—there are 75 f***ing calories in that s***, compared to the 145 calories in a bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon (the brew on Kid's tour rider). According to his logic, for every two beers he replaces with a vodka soda, he earns himself one free beer. The only catch is, they’re all empty calories, so every time he throws one back, he’s adding unnecessary calories to his diet. It’s kind of like buying a Louis Vuitton bag instead of a Hermes—it may be cheaper, but it still ain’t a bargain.
