Super Bowl Super Savers It's that time of year again! The Super Bowl is here and you know that means - plenty of beer, chips, and Buffalo wings.

It's easy to get lost in the excitement of the game and not realize the calories you're mindlessly munching. Here's what you need to do to keep your weight in check as you root for your favorite team:

Prepare healthy snack alternatives before guests arrive or bring them with you to a friend's house. This is a great way to make sure they will be available for you to enjoy.

Eat before arriving at a party to prevent you from overeating when you get there.

Keep your portions sizes small - fill your plate once and avoid going back for seconds.

Try to distance yourself from the food table. Keep your water bottle handy or chew on some sugarless gum to keep your mouth "occupied."

Limit your alcohol intake as it increases your appetite and causes you to consume more.

Make these simple snack substitutions to save on calories:

LOSER WINNER Potato Chips Baked Tortilla Chips 15 chips = 150 calories 15 chips = 81 calories Onion Dip Salsa 2 Tbsp = 70 calories 2 Tbsp = 10 calories Beer, Regular Beer, Lite 12 oz = 146 calories 12 oz = 100 calories Wings Shrimp Cocktail 6 = 440 calories 6 large = 130 calories 6" Classic Italian Sub 6" Turkey Breast Sub 1 = 460 calories 1 = 289 calories Chex Mix Popcorn, Light Butter 2/3 cup = 130 calories 3 cups = 70 calories

Remember, partying doesn't mean you have to pack on the pounds. You can enjoy the Super Bowl and control your weight at the same time!
