I know I already posted a rant about Renee Zellweger earlier in the week, but I just came across a newish interview where she (again) waxes crazy about her weight. Renee recently told the Daily Mail that she’d never gain weight to play Bridget Jones again. She says, “My body is whacked by the time we finish one of those. It doesn't know what has happened because it thinks there’s supposed to be a baby and there’s no christening.” Um, Renee...you’re thinking of hormones. Your body doesn’t assume it’s pregnant just because you packed on a few pounds. (Otherwise Luke Wilson is screwed.) And why is she even talking about this? There is no Bridget Jones 3 in the works. There’s not even a third Bridget book. It’s like she’s having post-traumatic stress from gaining a few stone four years ago. She mentions that she started worrying about the weight gain after watching Super Size Me: “I had a panic attack with all the specialists talking about how bad this is for you, long term, putting on that much weight in short periods of time.” She’s right—yo-yo dieting is seriously unhealthy. But chances are, Renee’s nutritionist-monitored weight gain was slightly healthier than Morgan Spurlock’s McD’s binge. Because of the unusual amount of 2004 references, I originally thought these quotes might be a little dusty. But she alludes to a new diary in the works, so apparently the topic really is still weighing heavily (sorry!) on her mind. Maybe she's just giving the producers fair warning in case the threequel eventually surfaces? Trackback(0)
