Q: "Salmon has health benefits such as Omega 3s...but can someone please inform me whether or not we sacrifice a material amount of Omega 3 benefits when we buy farmed salmon? We generally purchase farmed salmon because it is half the price of wild salmon, and we assume wild salmon has all the promised omega 3s and other health benefits. ![]() Mercury in salmon written by scott, April 23, 2008
The USDA reports salmon to contain amongst the lowest amounts of mercury of all fin fish. It does, however, contain organochlorines. You do no service to readers raising the mercury question for salmon and equate it with other pollutants. They are not anywhere near equivalent.
