Okay, so I’ve never been a Star Jones fan. Maybe it’s all her shameless self-promotion. Or those how-dare-you denials of gastric bypass surgery. (Followed by, ahem, the tell-all interviews about her gastric bypass surgery.) She’s always rubbed me the wrong way, but her latest scandal takes the cake. Apparently, Star bailed on an appearance at a non-profit expo for overweight teens—and then banked her hefty deposit. Oh, what, you thought she’d work for free?! I mean, sure, that’s how most charities work, but not when Star gets involved. Last year, the non-profit organization Full & Fabulous invited her to speak to a group of overweight teens at an expo. Star agreed—but in exchange for the honor of her presence, she demanded first-class airfare, a five-star hotel suite, a driver, and $25,000. But wait, don’t waste all your hatin’ just yet, because it gets so much greyer. According to reports, Star accepted a $10,000 deposit. Then she flew to
Of course Star’s people say the diva never received full payment before the event, which constitutes a breach of contract. Technically she’s right—and it may be relevant to note that the director of the organization filed for bankruptcy in 2005, so she’s not exactly the queen of finances. But really, is legal certitude more important than 1,500 teens in need of a little inspiration? Star says, “This was something I was really looking forward to doing.” But if she cared enough about teen obesity to speak at this event, why would she take thousands of dollars away from the cause? What do you think—was Star right to cancel? Trackback(0)

I think she has issues and she is not being honest with herself about her issues despite coming clean about her surgery. Maybe she worried that the teens would see through her phoniness.
