Not everyone has flawless discipline. Here are some of the latest fixes celebs swear by when they need to drop a few pounds (or at least look like they did).

HOODIA
I’m surprised this is still on the scene. It’s herbal, so it’s not FDA-approved and not all experts seem to agree on its safety. But some celebs happily cop to using it—Carmen Electra even appears in ads for NV, a diet pill that contains hoodia and green tea extract. The new hoodia fad is more of a delivery method: Ever noticed how Britney’s wielding a lollipop in every picture lately? Of course, it needs to be said that Carmen was skinny before she started repping hoodia, and Britney…well, she's not exactly an ideal spokesperson. The effectiveness is still up in the air, so I’d skip this until more research has been done—on safety and success rates.

EZEKIEL BREAD
Marisa Miller and Aida Turturro have both given shout-outs to this organic grain bread recently. Obviously these women have two very different body types—but in this case, that bodes well for the bread. For Marisa, a surfer and swimsuit model, it’s a diet staple; the complex carbs keep her from gorging. And for Aida, who has Type 2 diabetes, the bread rates low on the glycemic index and helps to keep her blood sugar stable. (Psst: Believe it or not, this bread is biblically inspired.) You can find it here or DIY with this recipe, which I’m far too kitchen-challenged to attempt.

GIRDLES

Hey, you can’t win ’em all. Jennifer Garner admits she sometimes need a little extra help from elastics to keep everything looking flawless. She says, “I usually feel like, ‘No matter how many girdles you put me in, you will not be able to zip this.’” And she’s not the only celeb who’s tucking it all in. One of the must-have accessories in Hollywood is Spanx, a body-shaping hose. You won’t hear many celebs bragging about it, but it’s one of “Oprah’s Favorite Things” and Gwyneth Paltrow says, "They just squeeze you in. All the Hollywood girls do it." Just think of them as a supplement to a healthy diet and exercise—not a substitute.
