Doctor Kracker Klassic 3-Seed Flatbread and Snacker Print E-mail
by Charles Stuart Platkin
Thursday, 11 October 2007

The Why: How many healthy attributes does a food need to have to qualify as healthy? Well this Calorie Bargain "takes the cake", and here are some reasons why:

1) Whole Grain
2) High Fiber
3) Omega 3's
4) Organic
5) Portion Control (in the flatbread and the Snackers)
6) Flax seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and pumpkin seeds--which are rich in plant lignans that have antioxidant properties.
7) Dippable
8) Great taste
9) Uber Crunch!! (And believe us, there is no doubt these are crunchy!)

The Health Bonus: See numbers 1-4 above? Those are all great health benefits that are worth volumes (or at least DietDetective.com Investigations)! Click on each of them for more information on the health benefit topics.

What We Liked Best: The "au-natural"-ness of these crackers is great, and the ingredients list is practically saintly. They are good alone as a snack, as a base for peanut butter or low-fat cheese, or even as a dipper, instead of chips.

What We Liked Least:
These crackers are dense, and are therefore high in calories. Even though they are "healthy calories", you don't want to lose track of how many of these crunchy Krackers make their way into your mouth. Luckily, it's pretty easy to keep an eye on it, because they are portion controlled. The Flatbreads are 100 calories per cracker (they're BIG), and the Snackers are smaller pieces that come packaged in a 1-ounce portion-controlled bag that has 120 calories.

What It Replaces: Depending on the time of day or meal, these can replace bread (say, with soup), chips (these sure crunch, and are good as "dippers"), and are definitely better nutritionally than a LOT of other crackers.

The Price: About $19.00 for a 6 bags of flatbread, on Amazon.com .  (That's just over $3.00 for a pack of 8 large flatbread crackers.)

Graham

'My Big Fat Diet' Puts A Whole Town On Low-Carb With Incredible Results
by Jimmy Moore
Monday, 12 May 2008

Can it REALLY be? A television show about a low-carb diet? YEP!

With popular weight loss reality television shows like "The Biggest Loser" in the United States, Australia, and around the world, it was only a matter of time before a television network was gonna be willing to give the low-carb lifestyle an opportunity to be featured and displayed prominently in its very own program. And now it's here for all the world to see for themselves the life-changing impact of healthy low-carb living!

Have you heard about the new Canadian show called "My Big, Fat Diet" which premiered on the CBC last month? Oh my gosh, if you are a fan of livin' la vida low-carb, then hold on to your hats folks--they're actually putting the participants on a sugar-free, no junk food, high-fat, low-carb diet. WOW doesn't even begin to express how amazing it feels to see something like this on television.

So I think I have used up my allotment of fossil fuels for at least the remainder of this year or more likely the next decade. Why? My husband surprised me with a birthday trip to Paris last weekend.
