Gossip Fodder? Print E-mail

I think my vegetarianism may have been the target of gossip, but it ended up being a good thing. Let me explain...

I am heavily involved with the PTA at my kids school. My daughter is also in Girl Scouts. Both of these activities regularly put me in the situation of eating dinner with a group of other parents. Many of the parents, like me, are involved with both groups.

Now, when I became a vegg, I didn't advertise it so much. I just picked over the food to the best of my ability. However, I did let it slip once at a Girl Scout potluck.

Sure enough, at the next PTA meeting, there seemed to be a concerted effort to present a vegg main dish... I'm kinda sure there hadn't been before- because I distinctly remember eating a meal of potato chips and vowing to always eat before the meeting.

So, word got out!

I'm not complaining in the least! Actually, I'm kinda touched, although, like most women, I hate people going through extra trouble for me.

Last night's meeting though- WOW! I ate some of the tastiest soup I've ever encountered- pumpkin bisque. It was excellent.

This is the good part about being vegg. You end up trying a lot of new things, and, in my case, I feel very validated in my beliefs by people who don't share my beliefs, but make a concerted effort to tolerate them.

Good day overall. Here's a recipe for pumpkin bisque if you're interested.
