Meat and Fish Aren't the Only Cholesterol Culprits Print E-mail

FACT OR FICTION? When it comes to watching my cholesterol levels, I only have to worry about the cholesterol in my food.

FICTION: When you're watching your cholesterol levels, it's also important to pay attention to saturated fat. Foods high in saturated fat also play a role in raising cholesterol levels--more so than cholesterol-laden foods such as egg yolks, liver, steak and shrimp. So, although something like shrimp contains a considerable amount of cholesterol, it has substantially less total fat and is clearly a better choice.
