Now the last time we wrote about a chocolate product, we got a flury of e-mails protesting. We’re not saying that one should eat these truffles for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But if you do like chocolate, this Calorie Bargain beats typical truffles, so it’s a good swap option. The Health Bonus: 1) Cocoa powder has health benefits; 2) 2 truffles are only 1 Weight Watchers point; 3) Diabetics can eat them as dessert after a meal (3 truffles = 1 piece of fruit). They are also certified kosher. What We Liked Best: The first thing we looked at after the nutritional information was the ingredients, to see how she did it. One of the main secrets here is the fact that the center of the truffle is made with a fat-free filling, so the "real" chocolate is only on the outside. (Which is a pretty good trick for calorie thriftiness!) That explains why these are only 30 calories and 1 gram of fat apiece. We also thought it was neat that she uses figs and honey in the filling. What We Liked Least: At this point you can’t run out and get these in your local store. (But they do keep for about 5 months, and they can be refrigerated or frozen to extend shelf life—so order extra!) What It Replaces: Your regular chocolate splurge—other leading truffles can have more than double the calories and fat. For instance, Russell Stover Milk Chocolate Colorados are 100 calories each. Ouch!

Look at all that SUGAR in these truffles! EEEEK! If you reduce or eliminate those, including the listed ingredients, sugar, fructose, dextrose, and honey (all sugars by another name) and even increase the fat by using more REAL cocoa butter, then this chocolate would be EVEN BETTER!
