Lipo Cattiness Print E-mail

It’s no secret that plastic surgery is a popular weight-loss quick fix. After all, if you have the thousands to spare, why waste your afternoons sweating in the gym? But the celebs who rush out for a nip-and-tuck face serious dangers. And I’m not just talking about a life-threatening infection like the one Kathy Griffin barely survived. I’m talking about the kind of thing that actually scares Hollywood types—you know, like not looking so cute afterwards.

Two recent photos made me think of this. First, there’s Tara Reid, who’s openly admitted to having plastic surgery—and a pretty bad botch-job at that. (“I didn’t do my research,” she said.) But while her front half is starting to get back to normal, her rearview has not quite caught up. Basically, her booty has cellulite; her legs don’t. Just look at this picture. It’ll make you grateful for whatever junk is in your trunk.

Then there’s Britney, who reportedly had the non-invasive LipoDissolve procedure. While she’s slimmed down a little, it obviously wasn’t as effective as it could’ve been. After seeing the ad for her new fragrance, Believe, I’m having trouble believing she looks anything like that. My extremely scientific basis for that statement is the barrage of photos of Britney in her skivvies lately, and the fact that her body doesn’t look like that in any of them. If she looked anything like she does in the ad, we wouldn’t be so embarrassed for her when she decides to, say, jump in the ocean in see-through underwear.

Anyway, the running rumor is that a body double was used after Brit stormed out of the shoot (such a one-trick pony, that girl). The peeps at Elizabeth Arden swear, “The only person in the national print ad for Britney's Believe fragrance is Britney Spears.” Now, that I believe. But I also believe these pictures were taken back in 2001.

Point is, I can see why lipo is such a popular concept, but the results never seem to add up. It always looks better when you actually burn off the extra fat—and it’s a few thousand dollars cheaper, too.

I think Britney looks good in those "fat" pictures you posted. Yes, she's bigger than she used to be, and she has issues and could stand to eat healthier and have some serious therapy, but those exact two pictures you posted? Come on. She looks fine. She should keep her clothes on, but she's far from gross.
