Nicole Richie...Gains Weight?! Print E-mail

Here’s hoping. In tonight’s candid interview with Diane Sawyer—during which she will reveal everything that has already leaked out to the tabs two weeks ago—Nicole says she’ll do what’s best for her baby. Even if it means eating.

She tells Diane she’s already packed on 10 pounds—you know, not that she’s counting, of course. “Numbers don’t mean anything. If I gain 40 pounds, if I gain 50 pounds, then that’s obviously what my body needs to do. I’m totally okay with that.”

I don’t know how okay I believe she is, seeing as her entire “career” has been founded on being skinnier than everyone else. Quick, name one thing besides Simple Life that Nicole has ever done. Just kidding, it’s a trick question.

So I can’t wait to see how fast the weight comes off post-baby. For now, though, she swears she’s eating hourly. And she actually comes close to revealing the secret behind her drastic weight loss—which she coyly says “possibly could have been” attributed to something besides mere stress.

Hopefully she’ll stay healthy well into motherhood. Although I’m not sure how I feel about Joel; he was dating Hilary Duff when her weight plunged, which makes me wonder if he likes ‘em skeletal.

By the way, does anybody else suspect that Nic perfectly timed this pregnancy to coincide with the flowy empire-waist trend? Sneaky!
