FitTip: Get Your Five a Day the Easy Way We all know we need 'em, but many of us don't know how to get 'em. Follow these tips to help ensure you get your daily dose of fruits and vegetables.

Everyone knows we're supposed to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables a day, but most of us have no idea how to make it happen on a consistent basis.

Try these tips for getting your five a day without thinking too hard:

Slice up some fruit to sprinkle over cereal or pancakes at breakfast.

Add sautéed peppers, onions and asparagus to an egg-white omelette.

Spoon some fresh salsa over your favorite sandwich before adding the top slice of bread.

Choose vegetable toppings for pizza, such as spinach or mushrooms.

When fresh fruits aren't in season, choose canned fruit packed in juice or dried fruit (apples, apricots).

Add fruits and veggies to salads, grapes and apple slices to chicken salad, chopped onions, peppers and/or carrots to tuna salad.

Buy ready-to-eat veggies and salad greens.

Fill your plate with fruit and veggies from the salad bar.

Add berries or bananas to yogurt for a sweet treat.

Toss fresh veggies into jar tomato sauce or canned soup.

Snack on raw veggies dipped in salsa.

Freeze grapes or blueberries for a refreshing, late-night snack.
