Scared To Eat? New Report Highlights Foodborne Illness Disease Trends Print E-mail

There is a media conference today, Thursday, April 12, 2007 11 AM, ET-- the conference will be on foodborne illnesses in the United States, and is being held by the CDC. Here is the press release from today's meeing.  Here is the info: The Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet) collects data from 10 U.S. states regarding diseases caused by enteric pathogens transmitted commonly through food. FoodNet  quantifies and monitors the incidence of these infections by conducting active, population-based surveillance for laboratory-confirmed illnesses. This report describes preliminary surveillance data for 2006 and compares them with baseline data from the period 1996-1998. Read more about food scares that matter here.  And food fads here.
