Q: Are organic foods worth the cost? What benefits do they have? A: And so the organic food debate continues! Many people in favor of organic foods claim that organically grown foods are more healthful and safer than foods grown in more conventional ways. To the contrary... According to the American Dietetic Association, no evidence has shown that there is a significant difference. Organic foods are typically grown with natural pesticides and insecticides to prevent crop damage. With conventional agriculture, pesticides are carefully regulated to ensure their safe use for the environment and human health. While no benefits have been proven, organically grown foods are certainly not dangerous. The important thing is to choose a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables - whether they are organic or not, at this point, seems to be a matter of personal preference rather than of hard, scientific data. Just keep in mind, all fruits and vegetables need to be washed thoroughly, organic and non-organic alike. Trackback(0)
