Veggie Fever Print E-mail

Has anyone seen photos of Alicia Silverstone lately? She’s come a long way from her post-Batman, pre-veganism days, when she earned the unenviable tabloid nickname "Fatgirl."

She credits the switch to veganism for her new fat-free figure. Of course, it’s pretty easy to be a fat vegan, which she figured out fast: "At first it was all carbs—pasta, bread, and fruit smoothies."

Eventually she realized that, y’know, veggies are vegan too, and she started adding those to the mix, along with beans, tofu, and whole grains. "There are so many grains and vegetables, and they’re all amazing," she says. Maybe she’s never had kale.

If veganism sounds fun but you can’t pass up a good burger, be a vegan for a day and try Alicia’s fave vegan cookies.
