Does anyone on the Grey's Anatomy set top 100 pounds?  I'd be surprised...but at least Katherine Heigl (aka Izzie) has a smart approach to staying slim.

Her theory: If you’re having trouble getting your butt to the gym, bring the gym to you. Katherine keeps an elliptical machine in her house for morning workouts. "If I have a call time, I don’t want to have to get up at to go to the gym," she says. "Now I can get up an hour before work and work out for a half hour."

A smart workout philosophy is about as rare in Hollywood as last year’s Chloe bag, but Katherine is spot-on. How long does it take you to find your keys, walk or drive to the gym, throw your stuff in a locker, wait for an open piece of equipment, and finally get moving? At least fifteen minutes—if you’re lucky. Double that for the trip home, and you’ve just wasted a half hour that could have been spent biking, lifting, or interval training in your own home. That could add up to a few hundred extra calories burned.

Of course, there are downsides to home workouts, like the easy distractions from bills, cable TV, and needy family members. But Katherine’s strategy is way more on-point than her equally skinny co-star, Ellen Pompeo, who claims to maintain her figure by eating 3000 calories per day. No...seriously.
