Is a horse steroid the diet secret behind all those uber-skinny celebs?

A dangerous steroid called clenbuterol—meant for animals but a rumored favorite among Tinseltown types—is getting buzz as the diet aid of choice for all those size-zero stars. One star stylist was even accused of giving the potentially deadly drug to her A-list clients, though she publicly denied the rumors.

Basically, clen works like a steroid, boosting stamina and building muscle. It’s also a stimulant, like most diet pills. It’s the perfect recipe for weight loss. Or disaster.

For starters, it’s illegal, assuming you’re not a horse with a bronchial problem. It’s not available in any FDA-approved drug, and it’s on the IOC’s hit list. And if that’s not enough to deter you, it can be fatal. This year, several hundred people in China were poisoned after—ready for this?—eating pork from pigs that had been fed clenbuterol. It also caused heart arrhythmias and cell degeneration in lab studies. It’s a no-brainer—clenbuterol is a “miracle drug” to avoid.
