Weirdest thing: I’ve been living on a steady diet of tacos, salsa, chili, chips and burritos for as long as I can remember, and it hasn’t made me skinny yet. On the contrary, I wind up spending most evenings atoning for my tex-mex diet sins on the elliptical machine. And yet, here’s Gisele Bundchen claiming she stays skinny simply by eating spicy foods. It’s just that easy!

Apparently this is becoming a trend. When Beyonce needed to slim down for Dreamgirls, she traded her lifetime pass to Popeye’s Chicken (where can I get one of those?!) for a detoxifying blend of water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. The pepper, of course, serves to speed up metabolism. I’m sure her subsequent weight loss has nothing to do with the fact that a drink like that would make anyone lose their appetite.

Point is, clearly I was shortchanged in the metabolism department, because a 1,000-calorie burrito has never had a slimming effect on me, no matter how much extra-hot salsa I dump on there. And it’s kind of a bummer when celebs swear that the perfect body can be had for the price of a bottle of Tabasco.

Do you believe in Candida cleansing though? Any comments there?

Ugh, so unhealthy. Slow and steady is the better bet. (Beyonce followed the diet under close supervision.)
