BETH SHAW is the creator and founder of YogaFit, and the celebrated author of “YogaFit, published by Human Kinetics.   YogaFit is a fitness program which combines the very best fitness exercises with yoga’s traditional focus and stretching exercises.  The YogaFit studios are located in Hermosa Beach, Ca.  Beth Shaw is an avid fitness enthusiast and adventure traveler, Ms. Shaw has lectured and trained instructors throughout the United States and Europe.  She is also a Master Presenter for Fitness Conventions worldwide.  To date Yogafit has trained over 50,000 Fitness professionals on 6 continents

Question: Tell us how you got to where you are now.  
Lots of hard work and introspection.  Yoga and exercise helped

Failure is letting life go by without taking action, not being honest with yourself and others, not following your heart.
Failure is not making the most of each day and not going after your dreams.

Question: On those days when you're not motivated to work out, but you know you have to, what's the one thought that gets you going?
I always have to look good for some trade show, photo shoot or DVD shoot - that’s motivation enough – plus when I work out I feel good about myself.  That’s enough to keep anyone going.

Question: If you could eat one forbidden food whenever you wanted without gaining weight, what would it be?

Yoga and going to the gym.  Taking long walks with my dogs
 
Question: Do you have a favorite healthy recipe or cooking tip? If so would you share it?

Beth Shaw’s Scissor Salad:   Take a bowl and put in spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, garbanzo beans, olives, -  get a good pair of scissors and chop chop chop – add tuna or turkey or tofu for a protein source – dressing : olive oil, red wine or balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard and garlic gloves.  Salt & Pepper to taste
 
Question: Do you have a Calorie Bargain? What food did it replace? [Calorie Bargains are foods that are relatively low in calories but still taste great and satisfy our strongest temptations, and we use them to substitute for "higher-priced" foods we normally eat (otherwise we'd be adding calories and gaining weight).

Making “fake pasta”  substituting  sliced vegetables ( broccoli, carrots, cabbage, zucchinis, spinach ) instead of noodles

Question: Is there anything about yourself that you've changed your mind about in
the last 20 years?
No, I think we learn more about ourselves every day and change our minds slowly
 
Question: What's the next major item on your "to-do" list?

Rewrite my book originally published by Human Kinetics in 2000
 
Question: Define individual responsibility and how you react to adverse situations.

Individually responsibility is collective responsibility- the knowledge that our individual choices and actions affect the environment and society.
 
What was your worst summer job?
Waitressing at a restaurant on the Bay in Port Washington. I was a horrible waitress
 
What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?  

Too embarrassed to say :)
 
What place have you traveled to where you think you could live (other than where you live)?
