FitTip: Observe Cardio Etiquette at the Gym Print E-mail

If you're looking to endear yourself to fellow gym-goers, follow these easy steps.

Because cardio equipment is often placed close together, it's important to mind your best gym manners when you use it. The following tips will help you go for the burn without getting in anyone's face:

Obey time limits for machine use, especially when the gym is crowded.   You may not see anyone waiting, but there's probably someone nearby who'd like to use the equipment. If you'd like to use a machine for an extended period of time, schedule your workout for off-peak gym hours.

Keep the volume on your personal stereo turned low. Your neighbor may not share your taste in music.

Don't leave newspapers, towels, empty bottles or any other litter machines when you're finished. Clean up after yourself.

We know it's tempting to check out how other people's workouts are going, but keep your eyes on your own machine. Your neighbor's age, weight and intensity levels are none of your business.
