FitTip: Interval Training Can Bring Your Workout Back to Life Here's how to get more from a potentially dreary cardio-machine session.

If you're a cardio machine-loving, steady-pace type of person, shaking things up with some interval training can bring new life to your workout. This form of training involves alternating short, intense spurts of activity with periods of recovery.

Surprisingly to some, interval training provides all the health benefits of aerobic exercise, and more. The frequent starts and stops of interval training allow your body to increase the amount of stress it can handle and improve its ability to recover, in addition to keeping your mind focused on the changing tasks before you (which prevents you from mentally checking out during the workout).

So change the rhythm of your workout - try a new sport or simply mix it up on your favorite cardio machine - and recover your motivation.
