Randy's stunning 231-pound weight loss transformation
Nothing inspires someone to make a major change in their life like weight loss quite like seeing average, everyday people just like them accomplishing great success. It is why I like to feature low-carb weight loss success stories early and often here at my blog because sometimes you need a little motivation and inspiration as you begin this journey for yourself.
Today I have another such story to share with you and this is quite an amazing one indeed! It's about that guy at the top of this post named Randy. In late 2003, Randy weighed in at 410 pounds--the exact same weight that I was when I began my Atkins diet in January 2004. Randy started his low-carb lifestyle a couple months before I did and set out to lose the weight slow and steady. |

OK I just have to write one more post before I leave because I will be away for Earth Day. Today my 4 1/2 year-old son came home with a note in his backpack that was entitled "Dark Sky for Earth Day." The note was from the second grade and had images just like to ones you see in this post. Above the photo it said, "Wow! This is one fantastic photo, isn't it? Think again. This is a view of the world and the light be waste." |

A Greeniac's World is going on vacation. So for all you who need some "green" reading while I am away check out the new issue of Vanity Fair, the "Green Issue." Not only does Madonna look as gorgeous as ever, there are some really interesting and sometimes scary articles. |

(Source: The Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry ) If you are getting forgetful as you get older, then a research team from the University of Reading and the Peninsula Medical School in the South West of England may have good news for you.
They have found that phytochemical-rich foods, such as blueberries, are effective at reversing age-related deficits in memory, according to a study soon to be published in the science journal Free Radical Biology and Medicine. The researchers working at the Schools of Food Biosciences and Psychology in Reading and the Institute of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences at the Peninsula Medical School in Exeter supplemented a regular diet with blueberries over a 12-week period, and found that improvements in spatial working memory tasks emerged within three weeks and continued throughout the period of the study. |
