People who shed weight and want to keep it off might benefit from monthly personal contact interventions, researchers reported at the American Heart Association’s Conference on Nutrition, Physical Activity and Metabolism. Results of the study will also be simultaneously published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
In a test of three ways that might help people maintain weight loss, those who received monthly personal counseling were best at keeping off unwanted pounds. Overall, 42 percent of the study members maintained at least a 4-kilogram (9-pound) weight loss for 30 months. |

I don't know about you, but shopping for milk is very confusing. It used to be it was either skim, 1%, 2% or whole milk. Now when you go to the market and read the labels each brand is touting something different. Pasteurized, ultra-pasteurized, homogenized, organic, no antibiotics, no hormones, ultra-pure, no rBST, no rBGH, fortified with vitamin A & D added, lactose-free, DHA Omega-3, the list goes on. |

If you spent any time in any store this weekend, you probably noticed that swimsuit season has officially arrived. (I have no idea why they hit the racks in late winter, considering most people don’t start their emergency summer diets until May-ish.) Anyway, I came across two celeb bikini shots recently and it got me thinking—whose bikini bod is “better”? |

Fat people no longer welcome dining out in Mississippi?
As someone with a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy and Government, I've come across quite a bit of dopey legislation on the local, state, and federal government level over my years of studying and examining many different proposed bills. But Mississippi House Bill No. 282 that was drafted by two Republicans and a Democrat and submitted to the Mississippi House of Representatives today might just take the cake for the most insane obesity-fighting legislation of all-time. |

Daylight-savings time takes effect Sunday at 2:00 am springing the clocks ahead to 3:00 am. Growing up I always was excited about daylight-savings time, when we got to spring ahead with the change of season. However, now that the Bush Administration changed the date to the second Sunday in March, rather than the first Sunday in April, it all just seems like another day with an extra hour. |
