Livin La Vida Low-Carb

Jimmy MooreSpartanburg, South Carolina

My life was radically changed forever on January 1, 2004. That's the day that marks the first day in a journey I now refer to as livin' la vida low-carb.

As a 410-pound morbidly obese man with breathing problems, blood pressure skyrocketing, cholesterol through the roof and other obesity-related health conditions that were leading me to a one-way ticket to an early grave, I decided enough was enough.

I got on the Atkins diet after reading "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution" book and even started exercising for the first time in my life. Although it was a difficult struggle at times throughout the process of losing weight, I was able to lose nearly 200 pounds that year and I've kept it off ever since with low-carb living.

My life has been radically transformed and it's all because of the healthy low-carb way of eating. I created a blog (http://livinlavidalocarb.blogspot.com) in April 2005 called "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" to help encourage and educate others about this miraculous health and weight loss program and I even wrote a book called "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb:  My Journey From Flabby Fat To Sensationally Skinny In One Year" to share my story of hope with others.

It is my mission in life to help anyone who is overweight or obese to begin dealing with their weight problem and to rise triumphantly over it just like I did.  Please feel free to e-mail me anytime at livinlowcarbman@charter.net if you need a word of encouragement, some useful advice from someone who has been there, or just a listening ear.  I'm here to help you.

Hahn: Long-Term Aerobic Training Causes Premature Aging And Damage To The Heart Print E-mail

Fred Hahn is making a "Slow Burn" believer out of me

1. When you start talking about living a healthy lifestyle, generally the conversation begins with your diet and the kind of foods you put inside your body. While that is certainly the logical first step when it comes to losing weight and improving your health, most people tend to neglect another important factor in the weight and health equation: exercise. Ah yes, the dreaded “e” word!

But what if everything you think you know about exercise is just plain bogus? Have we been duped into thinking we need to spend hours running on a treadmill when actually that might cause your body more harm than good? YIKES!

CoQ10 Is The Super Secret Supplement Everyone Should Be Taking Print E-mail
by Jimmy Moore

Most people are confused and bewildered about what supplements they should be taking as part of a healthy lifestyle change like livin' la vida low-carb. We all know the benefits of a solid multivitamin as part of your daily nutritional routine. But what else can we take to help improve our health while losing and then maintaining our weight?

I've shared a few of the specific supplements I take on a daily basis in this YouTube video as well as this blog post. But there is one that you may not have heard much about because quite frankly the medical industry doesn't want you to know there's an over-the-counter dietary supplement that will replace some very expensive prescription drugs you may be taking. It's called CoQ10

After much trial and error, this cheesecake recipe is perfect!

Several weeks ago, my wife Christine and I did a couple of YouTube videos highlighting a brand new product called True Lemon who are sponsors of my blog right now. In one of the videos, we shared a very simple and quick recipe for making a lemon, lime or orange cheesecake. It was pretty basic with the cream cheese, True Lemon products, and Splenda.

Hardee's one of the few restaurants still catering to low-carbers

You can literally count on one hand the number of restaurants in America who care enough about people who are livin' la vida low-carb to offer them their very own menu: Cracker Barrel, Captain D's, and Hardee's. That's pretty much it!

Continued Concern About My Brother Kevin's Obesity, Health Print E-mail
by Jimmy Moore
Thursday, 13 March 2008

My brother Kevin shaved his head, but hasn't cut any weight lately

It's been a long time since I've updated you about my brother Kevin. I apologize for that since so many of you have been asking about how he is doing since his weight and health have been major issues that I have blogged about often at "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb." The reason is not that I don't want to update you, but that there's not much new to share.

Now that it has been a little over two years since I first blogged about Kevin's morbid obesity, I am pleased to share that he is at least keeping his weight and health relatively stable (not GREAT news to share, but a step in the right direction). This issue has been a source of grave concern for me over the past few years since I have been able to overcome my weight and health issues and now I feel helpless to help my brother do the same thing for himself.
