Livin La Vida Low-Carb

Jimmy MooreSpartanburg, South Carolina

My life was radically changed forever on January 1, 2004. That's the day that marks the first day in a journey I now refer to as livin' la vida low-carb.

As a 410-pound morbidly obese man with breathing problems, blood pressure skyrocketing, cholesterol through the roof and other obesity-related health conditions that were leading me to a one-way ticket to an early grave, I decided enough was enough.

I got on the Atkins diet after reading "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution" book and even started exercising for the first time in my life. Although it was a difficult struggle at times throughout the process of losing weight, I was able to lose nearly 200 pounds that year and I've kept it off ever since with low-carb living.

My life has been radically transformed and it's all because of the healthy low-carb way of eating. I created a blog (http://livinlavidalocarb.blogspot.com) in April 2005 called "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" to help encourage and educate others about this miraculous health and weight loss program and I even wrote a book called "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb:  My Journey From Flabby Fat To Sensationally Skinny In One Year" to share my story of hope with others.

It is my mission in life to help anyone who is overweight or obese to begin dealing with their weight problem and to rise triumphantly over it just like I did.  Please feel free to e-mail me anytime at livinlowcarbman@charter.net if you need a word of encouragement, some useful advice from someone who has been there, or just a listening ear.  I'm here to help you.

After low-carb weight loss, Mary Smith is as active as ever!

Guess who's back in the news again promoting and advocating the low-carb lifestyle as the way she lost over 125 pounds--MARY SMITH!

The media darling of low-carb dieting in 2007, Mary has already shared her amazing low-carb weight loss success story with the world appearing on the front cover of People magazine and then again having her achievement chronicled in her local hometown newspaper The Albuquerque (NM) Tribune in January 2007.

Now she's back again with yet another positive story about her Atkins/Kimkins triumph appearing in The Albuquerque Journal this time (and rumor has it Mary may be on the front cover of another major magazine in the not-too-distant future...STAY TUNED!).

Let's Talk About Real Long-Term Low-Carb Weight Loss Success Print E-mail

The media coverage and spin of the stunning new research out of Stanford University published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) confirming the Atkins diet is best that came out recently has continued at a feverish pace in these past couple of weeks.

All of this attention reminds me of exactly what happened about a year ago when another JAMA study looked at low-fat diets over an 8-year period and concluded they were completely ineffective for maintaining weight loss and improved health over the long-term. Now these same people are in panic mode and attempting damage control...AGAIN! How much longer will this song and dance charade about the low-fat diet continue? As an intrigued observer of diet and health, I'M LOVIN' THIS!

Manuel Uribe is a much happier man now thanks to low-carb living

Remember when I blogged about the tragic story of the 41-year old half-ton man named Manuel Uribe last year? YES, I SAID A HALF-TON MAN! You may have even seen him featured on television shows and in magazine articles about obesity over the past few months because he has been doing unbelievably well in his weight loss efforts--and he's livin' la vida low-carb to do it, too! HA!

Can We Finally Promote Low-Fat And Low-Carb Simultaneously? Print E-mail

Boy, we've got the low-fatties beside themselves today!

After the release of this JAMA study on Tuesday that is making tons of positive headlines for livin' la vida low-carb, you would think those who support low-fat diets were just told the government was no longer going to actively recommend that way of eating as the publicly-endorsed nutritional approach for getting healthy.

Of course, you know that wouldn't be such a bad idea if it happened. GASP! LOL! More about that in a moment.

Dr. Christopher Gardner says Atkins diet deserves a second look

Are you one of those people who STILL thinks the Atkins low-carb diet is just another dangerous fad that is a far inferior way to lose weight and improve overall health compared to the more highly-recommended, yet unsubstantiated traditional low-fat, low-calorie diets? If so, then you may be interested in the very latest research released in today's issue of the highly-respected Journal Of The American Medical Association which could very well change how all of us view the much-vilified, yet extremely effective Atkins diet.
