My life was radically changed forever on January 1, 2004. That's the day that marks the first day in a journey I now refer to as livin' la vida low-carb.
As a 410-pound morbidly obese man with breathing problems, blood pressure skyrocketing, cholesterol through the roof and other obesity-related health conditions that were leading me to a one-way ticket to an early grave, I decided enough was enough.
I got on the Atkins diet after reading "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution" book and even started exercising for the first time in my life. Although it was a difficult struggle at times throughout the process of losing weight, I was able to lose nearly 200 pounds that year and I've kept it off ever since with low-carb living.
My life has been radically transformed and it's all because of the healthy low-carb way of eating. I created a blog (http://livinlavidalocarb.blogspot.com) in April 2005 called "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" to help encourage and educate others about this miraculous health and weight loss program and I even wrote a book called "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb: My Journey From Flabby Fat To Sensationally Skinny In One Year" to share my story of hope with others.
It is my mission in life to help anyone who is overweight or obese to begin dealing with their weight problem and to rise triumphantly over it just like I did. Please feel free to e-mail me anytime at livinlowcarbman@charter.net if you need a word of encouragement, some useful advice from someone who has been there, or just a listening ear. I'm here to help you.

"Slow Burn" trainer Fred Hahn offers up 20 fat-burning ideas!
After reading and reviewing his fantastic book entitled The Slow Burn Fitness Revolution in January, I was not just enamored by the overall fitness philosophy of personal trainer Fred Hahn who advocates lifting weights slowly as the safest, most effective way to build muscle. But after interviewing him at my blog and realizing he promotes a solid controlled-carbohydrate nutritional approach to work in tandem with the "Slow Burn" program, I knew Fred was somebody I wanted to hear more from in the future. |

Not a day goes by that I don't hear from people wondering what they can do to help turn the tide of negativity about livin' la vida low-carb in our culture because of the tremendous changes that have happened in their lives as a result of making this healthy lifestyle change for themselves. When something this good happens to you, then you just can't help but go out and tell everyone you know about the amazing experience you have been able to enjoy thanks to low-carb living.
And yet, there's still this major barrier in the way of celebrating the victory that is deservedly ours--the opposition to low-carb diets that continues to dominate in the media from government groups such as the Food & Drug Administration and the United States Department of Agriculture, and health organizations like the American Medical Association, American Heart Association, and the American Diabetes Association. The daily hammering of the high-carb, low-fat message gets to be a bit nauseating after a while and it tends to wear a lot of the enthusiasm down even from people who are very enthusiastic about the low-carb way of life. I'll admit it even happens to me from time to time.

With food everywhere on a cruise, how do you eat low-carb?
It's back to real life again after a fabulous cruise on the Carnival Ecstasy to Cozumel and Progreso, Mexico. WOW, what a time getting to meet so many amazing people who have been a part of my life through my blog! I wanted to share with you pictures of exactly what I ate while I was on board the ship for the five-day cruise to show you CAN eat low-carb while on a cruise. |

One of the most asked about aspects of livin' la vida low-carb has got to the issue of ketosis. There is so much misinformation about there about this very natural state that the body goes through when you are on a low-carb diet (primarily confusing it with a serious condition that diabetics must be careful of called ketoacidosis--NOT the same as ketosis). As such, there may be confusion that lingers out there among my readers who are just learning about this way of eating. |

The notorious Woman's World magazine Kimkins cover story
It took them eight months to do it, but Woman's World magazine has FINALLY acknowledged the cover story they did on the now-notorious Kimkins diet contained some "inaccurate information" from and about the founder of the low-fat, low-calorie, starvation scheme--the lying and manipulative Heidi Diaz.
