Cweet: the Zero-Calorie ‘Natural’ Sweetener of the Future?

Do we need another sweetener?  Perhaps not, but there is something totally new coming on the market within the next 12-18 months to sprinkle into your tea or stir into your coffee.  It’s an extract called brazzein, from the West African plant Pentadiplandra brazzeana Baillon.  According to Loren Miles, CEO of Natur Research Ingredients of LA, California, this sweetener, branded with the name Cweet™, is 1000 times sweeter than sugar, but has zero calories, tastes like cane sugar and is also heat stable.

One More Reason to Drink Water

Consumption of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is at an all time high in the United States.  It is a widely used sweetener containing the simple sugars glucose and fructose, which is used in the soft drink industry.  Chances are, if you have had a regular soft drink or fruit drink lately, you have most likely consumed HFCS yourself.

Testing Testing Testing: Why It Matters
“Why should I check my blood sugar?  I know what high and low blood sugar feels like.”
“I only check my blood sugar when I don’t feel right.”
“I only test it 3 times a week and it is normal, so I don’t check it more often.”
